As you know I am getting ready for another trunk show in November and my mind is full of creative ideas for my samples.  As you see in the pictures my ideas are coming out kind of neat.  I am calling them “American Wild” series.  918201616518  The designs for a cat, flamingo, birds, duck and a mountian scene are at different stages on the design table.  9182016165129It is fun to let my imagination run wild and who knows what will end up in this collection.  I would love to do a whole series of dogs  on the fronts of stocking eventually and so I went on the internet to see what kind of patterns were available.  9182016165050There is some pretty incredible designs  and I found some that were made to carve on the front of pumpkins.  They would be great done as a stencil on a stocking so hopefully tomorrow I can give it a try.  Maybe they will work on some of the totes that I make.  9182016165214Seems like I always start out with alot of ideas running around in my head and eventually sift through them to find the ones that will work at the moment.  Then I put the rest of them on the back burner so to speak.  Otherwise I would not finish anything.   Sometimes my ideas have to wait until I find the right pieces to the puzzle.  Anyway simplifying my ideas helps me to stay motivated to the finish.  9182016165244Having several projects going at the same time helps me to not get frustrated in the development process.  If one design starts to stall then I switch to another taking a break  from the first one gives me time to think about the next step. Some people wouldn’t be able to create this way because it is a very loose process but for me it works pretty well. The last project I worked on today is the blue heron wall hanging.  I painted the background first and then painted the heron on a seperate piece of fabric and then attached it to the background.  I have the borders on and have made the quilt sandwich and will try to quilt it tomorrow.  Will let you know how it goes….
