Wow, making buttons is so much fun! The other day I was cleaning out some of my storage and found these horse buttons. Remember when I made buttons out of shirky dink for one of our classes at the quilt shop? These were in a box with some of my favorite buttons left from the shop. Decided to jump right in and make some more and 50 buttons later they became sets to sell on my Etsy shop.

Of course I was starting all over again to get the supplies to make them. First thing to consider is where shrink and bake them. I tried my gas oven in the kitchen but they are small and light and the gas in the oven flipped them over all over the place. A trip to Twin Falls to buy a new toaster oven. Target had a great one with a good timer and heat setting. Cooks them perfectly every time.

Next were the shrinky dink sheets themselves. I bought two packages at Michaels and gave them a try when I got home. That was a train wreck. When I sent them through the printer the ink smeared and even after a day of drying they were still wet. Turns out they weren’t for my inkjet printer. Was so relieved when the manager at Michaels let me return them. Ended up ordering them from Amazon.

Now it was time to pick out my subject matter. Here are some pictures of my finished sets.

Each of these sets sell for $10.00. They are machine washable in cool water and dry on the warm setting.

Here is a picture the approximate sizes.

Well that is enough for now. Will share other creatures in a later post.

Up date on my Esty site: As you know I renamed my site to “Its at the Emporium” just a few weeks ago. Apparently that name got convoluted and I had to change it again. Hopefully for the last time. My new name is “Its at the Emporium2” Please bookmark that and if you visit my page please favorite the shop.

Time to make more buttons, I think I am obsessed……
