There is something about fall that is so inspiring for a fiber artist.  That is probably why I have created a lot of fall art quilts through the years.  Anywhere from the vibrant colors that the landscapes  take fall-trees1on to the pumpkins sitting by my front door this time of year.  As I sit at my desk and look out my window, the wind is blowing and the leaves that are so dramatic, are falling to the ground just like snow in the wintertime.  It is fascinating all the different shades of red, yellow, orange and brown this time of the year brings and I am itching to get into the art studio to create my next fall art quilt creation. As you can see by the picture here who wouldn’t be impressed by the color scheme going on.  Nature itself is one of the things in life that brings me great pleasure and a lot of my designs are about the earth, leaves and sky.  I always think Mother Nature is painting a picture only for me.  As I have traveled around the country teaching “Watercolors on Fabric” classes the most asked question is where did I get the ideas for my fiber art quilt designs.  And I reply just about anything that has color and texture catches my eye.  When traveling in the car with my husband he will often ask me where my mind is because when inspiration for a quilt design happens I literally stop talking and stare out the window for an extended period of time while the new design formulates.  Sometime I sketch and a very rough design and I mean a very rough design because I am not really a drawer.  But usually I try to save the image in my memory for future projects. All and all I  am inspired by just about anything and as I create something inside of my is so satisfyed.  Here is another fun fall quilt.pumkinsinwaiting My grandkids in Seattle get to enjoy this one.  In Idaho fall doesn’t last long.  So I have a saying “Enjoy Fall, it only lasts a minute”…..Karen
