Once again fall has come and gone so fast that if you blink you would have missed it. One day I actually sat in my car and watched the leaves fall off of my trees just like snowflakes in the wintertime. All that spectacular color collecting on the street and yard making its own random decorations for me to enjoy. This year for a fall project I held the first annual “The Quilt Store” show here in Shoshone and what a great success it was. We had 16 vendors and over 60 quilts for sale. It is amazing what women can create when they get together! The day we set up our booths, with each quilt hung, it looked more and more beautiful as the day went on. Each quilt was a one of a kind work of art and they were draped like jewelry over the quilt frames. Then the fabric and custom quilting booths appeared and then the stuff that all quilters love to have to make their life easier booths rounded things off. I was a little nervous about how this first show would go but not to worry it came out even more beautiful than I had in mind originally. There is something about quilters gathering with each other that has its own synergy so to speak. As we view each others work we offer words of encouragement and are also inspired to make even more quilts. The quilting is language is a universal language. The two vendors from Boise who didn’t know each other were exchanging phone numbers to continue to talk about new ideas when they returned home. I am so thankful for the group that helped set up the quilt frames, decorated and then dismantle everything when the was done. I believe the success of the show can be measured by how many vendors and customers want to return next year. To my surprise almost all have plans to do it again next year and yes I did book the facility for next fall. This show was a lot like making a quilt. You have a picture in mind of how you want it to look but now sure how you are going to get there. Next thing you know you have created a masterpiece one piece at a time and then invite your friends and family to look at it. And as they are complimenting you on your work you are already getting ready for the next one. It was a lot of work but such a blessing for so many. Hope t0 see you next year.

Wow,
I’m glad you had good turnout. You need a Facebook button to like you on Facebook:) Love your website!!!
Hi Karen, I so admire you for your discipline and commitment to this art form, and your decision to take the time to share it with others. My favorites in the Gallery are the Pumpkins in Waiting, St. Mark’s Church, and Idaho Pride. I’m looking forward to seeing what you have for this coming holiday season.
