Good morning snowflakes!  As I looked out my window this morning hoping for spring weather,  mother nature had her own idea. Big beautiful white snowflakes falling from the sky attempting to fill in Jet the dogs paw prints.  Just yesterday I watched from the same window all the snow melt off the pine tree branches.  Now a new pattern is forming on those same branches. I love the picture of the arbor because it reminds me of lace in the silver lace branches. Just this week to combat the winter blues I decided to finish a art quilt that I started a couple of years ago.  It was about half painted but I couldn’t decide what season it was going to be.  Spring won out in the end and I love how the spring green leaves in the aspen grove became a burst of wonderfulness.  This quilt doesn’t have a name yet and was wondering if you guys have any ideas for its title?  I am open to any suggestions. Just post me back!   For some reason skies have been important in my designs lately. It has been fun creating the depth of the clouds as they descend to the horizon line.   To make the colors blend and appear more random I hang the fabric on the design board and apply paint and then let the colors run down and make the sky patterns. While it is wet I will move the fabric to my worktable and heat set the paint.  Then I go back and touch up in a few places to create even more values.  I first tried this method on dry cloth and through experimentation I was happier when I sprayed the cloth with a spray bottle wetting the fabric which allowed more flow. Also if it looked like the paint was too dark I could continue to spray with water to lighten it up.   Oh by the way I did enter an art quilt into the 2019 Art & Soul art show in Twin Falls happening this  spring.  I called it “Women of Power”.  It is all about when women tap into their inner creativity they become bold, beautiful and powerful.  Will keep you posted as to where it will be displayed in April.
