Decorating in Old World Style-Architectural Ornaments. Last night it snowed just a coating that was beautiful but not really snowy. It is hard to capture those great snow pictures I like to take this time of the year with out a dump. Maybe I am a little too ready for winter, lol.
I wanted to share with you how my clay ornaments are coming along. I has been interesting to say the least.
This project is making me a little crazy. I have been working on these old world style architectural ornaments, for three weeks now and everywhere I go it seems like all I look at is what will make texture on the clay. Grocery shopping was half food and half texturizing elements. Oh my I may be addicted.
One of the cool things about these French architectural ornaments is when I glazed them they look a lot like stone. That was by accident because my idea was something that would act like a glaze but still be neutral. This particular glaze is made of paint, water, and nail polish lacquer. What I didn’t realize is that the lacquer smell was collecting in my she shed. It is only usable with the heat turned off so I don’t have an explosion. Obviously today I will be working with a new glazing method.
Pictured here are the two collections I have listed on my Etsy site. (“It’sAtTheEmporium”} . I created the collection boxes using some of my leftover take out boxes from Karen’s Place. I downloaded a French background and then overpainted it with vanilla colored chalk paint. Then I printed it off and it created this great logo and background. An aged look was what I wanted and am very pleased with how they came out.
Finding the right name for this ornament collection was important because in marketing it for sale at any location you have to have a catchphrase. Bonjour for the French connection, architectural for the texture on the pieces and ornaments to define what they are.
Here is a couple more hanging on my living room Christmas tree. Well back to experimenting with texture, paint and forms. I just loving living in a creative life……..
