Here we are today, the first snow of the season. As you can see it is wonderful. I love taking pictures of the snow. The contrast between white and gray is facinating. This is also the time of year when I look back on my accomplishments and plan for the new year. Seems like I usually have a word or two that will discribe the new year.
My words for 2022 – “BE CREATIVE” I thought I would share with you what that means to me.
B – Believe in your idea. Don’t let your self-talk, get in the way of your idea. Remember this is a new creation that your are creating.
E- Engage with enthusiasm. Let that idea grow in your head. Wake up in the morning and think ” I can’t wait to start”.
C- Courageous. It takes risk to create something new. What if you fail? Just do it! As Nike would say.
R- Rely on others. Remember that others can help keep you on track. I have a few close friends that view my work along the way and help keep me on path. Thank goodness for my wingmen!
E- Everyday. Work on your new creation in some form or another everyday. I may not be hands on each day but I am certainly developing it in my head each day. Remember each new day gives you new perspective.
A- Adventurous. Sometimes to make something work out you have to take a risk. Try a new process or viewpoint. Don’t be scared, embrace it. Notice in the picture her safety net is above her!
Tenacious- It takes grit to not give up on your idea. I have learned that sometimes it takes a lot of mistakes to make a great piece. There are a variety of things that will try to derail you along the way. So stay engaged in your incredible idea. My best art pieces are the one’s I made happy accidents out of the mistakes.
I- Imagination. Remember that your imagination is your best friend, it leads you to every new creation.
V- Visionary. Use your original idea as YOU saw it. That vision of your work is invaluable. My first idea for a piece will usually has a lot going on. Working through the creative process with that original vision keeps me going. For example, sometimes when painting a new project I get stuck on the painting part and forget about that it is the whole that makes the picture-fabric, paint and thread.
E- Enjoy the process and what you learn from it. Doesn’t looking at this picture bring you great joy? I can imagine the photographer thinking isn’t this awesome. That is how I want to feel in my creative journey in the new year. After all creating should be a wonderful passion in your life don’t you think.
I would love to hear about some of your thoughts for your ongoing journey……Enjoy
