Taking inspirational pictures was my Easter present this year.  It was the best day because I got to see a lot of impressive scenery.  One thing I can say about living in Idaho is that each season is filled with a lot of inspiration.  Spring always brings new growth and the process of that growth intrigues me and also gives me ideas for more art quilts.  While I was waiting for my husband to get ready to go I stepped out side and took a couple of shots of the garden.  The dew was very heavy that morning and got this great shot of water on my tiger lilies.morning-dew-2  Isn’t it cool how the water pools across the surface making its own pattern on the green?  The red picture is of the rhubarb just poking its head out of the soil.  I am always thankful that my one rhubarb plant comes up each year because when I first moved to Shoshone it sat in a five gallon bucket waiting to be planted for four years.  It took that long tine to get the garden area cleared and ready.  Now it is a fantastic producer of stalks to my husbands delight because he loves rhubarb pies.ruhbarb-buds  Meantime while taking these pictures in the garden,  several ducks were making their way up the river.  Each with their own little wake.ducks-in-water  Then it was time to hit the road and our first stop was a back road outside of Gooding where I took this pond shot.  The way the grass has grown up and turned brown reminds me of a natural pampas grass.gooding-river  Next stop was Malad Gorge and the water here had these great blue green colors in them.  The contrast between the gray rocks and the water was wonderful.malad-gorge1  Then off to Hagerman valley and we decided to visit the area around Bell Rapids and I got this shot of water coming through a culvert.  Look at all the different shapes in this picture.  The round culver, the straight timber crossing in front and then the water gently curving as it falls into the pool. culvert-water  This is definitely a picture I will use for an art quilt design.  I believe this is my 44th spring in Idaho and so far I haven’t grown tired of all the diversity here.  It is a great place to be an artist. Well I better get back to the art studio and work on my next piece which has a lot of red tulips in it.  Has anyone been working on a new project?  Would love to hear about it.
